The Body Speaks: Why Counselling Alone Isn’t Enough - and How 9D Work Changes Everything
My girls have been book worms since day one. Both of them. And, somehow, it has become a small tradition, that each time I am in Brighton running around doing errands, with my girls, its a must to walk into a bookshop. Let’s make this very clear again… My girls love books. So, as they were sitting on the floor, immersed in books, I was roaming around, half lost in the shelves myself - picking up books flicking through pages, waiting for something to speak to me.
That’s when I opened The Body Keeps The Score. I read few random lines… and instantly felt that spark of recognition.
It was saying exactly what I tell my clients every day: we can talk about our pain for years - but without action, without body involvement, without somatic engagement, actual healing doesn’t happen.
It felt like this book was giving language to something I’ve believed - and lived - for a long time.
A Personal Moment That Taught Me The Same Truth
My understanding of this isn’t just professional - its personal.
When I was 9, I had a frightening experience during a swimming lesson. My instructor held me underwater for longer that I could manage. I didnt know what to do, so I kept swallowing water, desperate for air. My body panicked. My nervous system went into full survival mode.
And here is the thing:
Logically, as an adult, I know I am safe now. I can swim. I understand what happened. I have talked about it. I can explain it. But deep water still triggers something in me - not a memory, not a story, but a reaction.
My mind may have moved on. My body didn’t. Not until I learned to work with it directly.
That moment from childhood taught me the truth I now see in my clients every day:
the body remembers until we help it release.
Trauma Isn’t Your Story. It’s a State.
Talking is powerful. Talking gives shape to chaos. Talking helps us understand ourselves. But trauma isn’t stored as a narrative. It’s stored in:
-muscle tension
-breath patterns
-emotional reactivity
-avoidance
-panic
-shutdown
-automatic responses that bypass logic entirely
Clients often tell me:
”I know I am safe. So why do I feel this way?”
Because understanding safety is cognitive. Feeling safe is physiological.
Your Body Holds The Score - and the Solution
This is why simply talking about trauma can feel incomplete.
It’s not because counselling is ineffective - counselling is vital. But it only addresses one layer: the mental and emotional understaning.
To shift the physiological imprint - the “body memory” - we need to work with the nervous system itself.
That’s where somatic work and 9D journey come in.
9D allows access to places the mind cannot reach:
-the subconscious emotional storage
-breath patters linked to survival
-tension locked in the muscles
-energetic blocks in the fascia
-unfinished stress cycles
-sensations that don’t have words but hold entire stories
This is where transformation happens. Not by retelling the story - but by releasing the body’s reaction to it.
What 9D Makes Possible
People often describe 9D as:
-a nervous system reset
-an emotional clear-out
-a release they didn’t realize they were holding
-the missing piece after years of talk therapy
it dosen’t replace counselling - it completes it.
Counselling brings awareness. 9D brings release. Together, they allow genuine embodies change.
Separately, one often feels like understanding without shifting. And this is why I do both!

That moment flipping through a book in a shop reminded me why I do the work I do - and why I believe so deeply in a combined approach.
Because healing is not just:
-naming the trauma
-explaining the trigger
-analyzing the past
Healing is:
-breathing fully again
-releasing the tension your body has been holding for years
-calming the survival reflex
-teaching your nervous system that the danger is finally over
-reconnecting with your body instead of bracing against it
You cannot think your way into that. You must feel your way into it.
